The Easter Holiday in Egypt is celebrated nationwide, named locally as Sham Al Nassim or Sham En-Nassim, the Coptic form is Ϭⲱⲙ ̀ⲛⲛⲓⲥⲓⲙ, pronounced as Sham Ennisim.  the name of the holiday is actually derived from the ancient Egyptian harvest season that was called "Shamo", 

 

Egyptians eat traditional food on this day consists mainly of salted and dried grey Mullet, green onions, lettuce, chickpeas, and colored boiled eggs. Children prepare their colour sets to start their own art on the fragile shells of white eggs.
